Maleficent Movie Trailer Is Disney’s Darkest Fantasy Film Ever! Mistress Of All Evil Angelina Jolie & Sleeping Beauty Elle Fanning Share Their Thoughts

Maleficent Movie Trailer released its third footage for the public, and it slowly unfolds the darkest side of the “Mistress Of All Evil,” something that might impose a problem to Disney.

On the studio’s bold move to feature a villain in the title role, it will most likely hurt it’s expected profit, according to one of Wall Street’s analyst.

Wells Fargo’s Marci Ryvicker wrote that Angelina Jolie’s comeback film might be too scary that the $130-million-budget film, which will be shown in theaters starting May 30, could actually flop.

“Expectations for a Maleficent write-off seem relatively widespread,” she penned in a report.

A few other Wall Street analysts gave their two cents on the possible outcome of the movie.

“It’s definitely in the ‘not a sure thing’ bucket,” another analyst claimed of the Maleficent movie. RBC Capital’s David Bank is estimating in a total US haul of $150 million.

Maleficent movie is most likely to cater on the young adults rather than Disney princess movie’s traditional audience – children.

However, the concept of putting a villainess in the lead role is undeniably interesting and new, which may probably caught the eyes of the audience, or perhaps the fact that this will be Angelina Jolie’s comeback movie after three years in hiatus.

Jolie appears in the movie with enhanced sharp high cheekbones and headgear with horns. The actress struck a deal with fashion designer Stella McCartney to create a capsule collection for children aged 4 to 14 based on the movie.

The latest Maleficent movie trailer, third to be exact, was posted on YouTube last March 18 and has gained more than 4 million views already, while the January trailer earned 12 million views; A good gauge on the film’s possible outcome.

According to Jason Klein, co-CEO and founder of Listen First Media, Maleficent movie has 1.8 million fans in Facebook, more than any other non-franchise movie, which is due for release this year.

During one of her promotion for the Disney “spinoff” of the classic tale, Angelina Jolie shares her thoughts about featuring the villainess in the titular role.

"We've respected the classic, we've tried to bring you what you love about the story," the 38-year-old actress says in the clip. "We also hope to hope to bring a world that you've never seen before. It's a very beautiful story, and i think it is very different from what people are going to expect," she adds.

Jolie expressed her “love” for her role as the villain in a classic Disney movie, telling Entertainment Weekly, "I was quite sad to put my staff down and put my horns away because somehow, she just lives in a different world," Jolie admitted. "But I did have to take my staff home to practice walking with it in my cloak. Then I would go outside and scream at the bushes to expand my voice and play with my voice. So, mom was a bit nutso for a period," Brad Pitt's fiancee quipped.

Elle Fanning, who plays Princess Aurora, on the other hand says she was "always sort of intrigued" by the mistress of all evil Maleficent while watching the original, animated Sleeping Beauty (made in 1959) as a child.

The young actress also expresses her delight in working with a big star as she told Us Weekly that it was "a dream" working with Jolie on the movie. "She really got into her character in a way," Fanning revealed. "Like, she was very, so into the details of her clothes. She came into rehearsals on the first day with her Maleficent staff and she was in normal clothes, but had that. She was like 'I have to get used to it. It's part of my character.'"

"It's a reinvention, not just a retelling of the same story," screenwriter Linda Woolverton explains in the video. "[We] created a past for her that lead to the moment in which she curses Aurora, then takes us past that moment from Maleficent's point of view."
