Upcoming Oppo Phones 2014: Chinese Phone Maker Unleashes Budget Midranger, R1S Specs Include 5" Display, Quad-Core CPU, 1GB RAM, 8MP Camera

Upcoming Oppo phones 2014: Oppo has been on a roll the past months, and it does not want to stop its momentum. Since September last year, the manufacturer has gotten the world's attention with the industry's first ever smartphone with a rotating camera.

More than a month ago, Oppo has also unleashed what could arguably be the best flagship Android device today - the Oppo Find 7, which packs a 5-inch display with QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM, quad-core CPU, Snapdragon 801, and a 13MP primary camera that can merge images to come up with a 50MP photo.

Now, Oppo wants to take on the midrange market as it announces the R1S.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Oppo R1S packs a 5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a quad-core CPU running at 1.3GHz, and 1GB of RAM.

As a successor to the recently-released Oppo R1, the company aimed to bring new features to the R1S while not making the R1 obsolete.

Packed with an Adreno 305, the Oppo R1S will be able to deliver above average graphics performance, and considering its price tag of CNY2,498 or about 290 euros, that is already a great deal.

Other specs include LTE connectivity, and a 13MP primary camera that offers a number of options such as HDR, panorama, and even 1080p recording.

In the report, the new Oppo midranger will come with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, skinned with the company's Color OS. Hopefully, Oppo would be able to update the device to Kitkat to make it future proof.

The Oppo R1S is now available in China, though details of an international release have not yet been revealed.
