Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Vs. HTC One M8 Mini: Which Mini Flagship Would Make It Big?

Samsung Galaxy S5 mini vs. HTC One M8 mini: We all know that both Samsung and HTC are already working on their respective 'mini' flagships based on their high-end devices.

From what we know from rumors and speculations all over the Web, both devices are already nearing their completion and could be announced later this month.

In terms of the company's flagships, both the HTC One M8 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 have something that the other lacks, which make them work well in different groups of consumers in the market. But how about their smaller siblings?

Samsung Galaxy S5 mini

In previous rumors, the Galaxy S5 mini will sport a 4.5-inch display with HD (1280 x 780) resolution, a Snapdragon 400 chipset, 1.5GB of RAM, a quad-core CPU, an 8MP primary shooter and a 2MP camera in front, 16GB of internal memory and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

In a recent report, the Galaxy S5 mini will also be water resistant like its bigger brother, as stated in an alleged Warranty file.

HTC One M8 mini

The One M8 mini gets the same 4.5-inch 720p display of the Galaxy S5 mini, though it will come in a much better metallic build. The insides are also similar to the Samsung device, with a Snapdragon 400 chipset, quad-core Cortex A7 CPU, and 16GB of internal memory. However, it only has 1GB of RAM.

In the camera department, the HTC One M8 mini trumps the Galaxy S5 mini with flying colors as far as rumors go. There is a reported 'normal' 13MP primary camera at the back and a 5MP front facing shooter.

Verdict

Both phones have not yet been released so this would only serve as an overall comparison of which 'mini' phone is better based on rumors. The HTC One M8 mini is clearly the winner in terms of overall package with its higher resolution camera sensors, though people who find water resistance useful may choose the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini instead.
