‘Thor 3’ Plot Spoilers: Thor Rips Loki’s Head Off! Asgard Falls And Thor Brings 'The End Of All Things!' The Final Chapter For The Cinematic Thunder God?

The "Thor" series was meant to be a trilogy and we have seen two installments. Following the plan, the last chapter for the Thunder god will see the violent end of Loki as well as 'the end of all things.'

'Ragnarok' or 'the end of all things' was written in Norse mythology and also adapted in the comic book storyline. It is likely that the Asgardian world may come to a close in the Marvel Cinematic Universe..perhaps it is the most disconnected franchise (as compared to Captain America and Iron Man).

Tom Hiddleston's popularity ensures Loki's return but since we have seen him as the main villain twice, there should be some variation. In the last scene of "Thor: The Dark World" he sits at the throne of Asgard which puts him in perfect position for the following events.

Moviepilot recounts the Ragnarok storyline in the comics:

"Loki raises as army in collaboration with Thor and Odin's arch enemy the Fire Giant Surtur. Loki arms his troops with incredibly powerful weapons forged in the fire caves of Muspellheim (the same place as Thor's hammer).

After a long struggle in which Thor's hammer is smashed, he manages to repel the demon armies from Asgard." The graphic scene depicted has Thor literally ripping Loki's head off!

It's not a pleasant sight, but Loki is a villain and a traitor. It is also possible that he killed Odin, Thor's father. Can you blame the Thunder god?

The final note in Ragnarok has Thor letting Asgard burn under Surtur, a gigantic fire demon, literally! Surtur is one of the most requested villains and he will probably look terrifying on the big screen. His resemblance to the devils of religion will also make an impact.

Why did Thor let Asgard burn? He would be busy with 'more important things' that would lead to his glorious demise.

Moviepilot continues: "Thor has made a traumatic discovery. There are Gods above him, the Gods of Gods or Those who sit above in Shadow, who live from the life force of those in Asgard.

These über-gods have stitched time in a cycle, ensuring the fall and rebirth of Asgard, Odin, Thor and all others. Thor is insulted, and he heads for the roots of Yggdrasil, the tree of life. There he finds how the tapestry of time is stitched together by spinster women known as the Norns.

They offer Thor praise and rewards if he would leave the tapestry alone, but he refuses, severs the thread, and thereby cuts the endless cycle of time and ensures his own glorious death."

In other words, Thor has discovered the Matrix and sought to destroy it.

These are just speculations and not rumors, exploring the possibilities of the Thor franchise. It is certain to end because somebody else can don the Iron Man armor and take the mantle of Captain America, but there can only be one Thunder god (Mjolnir should know).
