Goonies Sequel 2014: Goonies Never Say Die; Donner and Spielberg Hope to Search for Goonies 2; They Got the Map

Goonies Sequel 2014: "Goonies never say die!" according to Mikey, played by Sean Astin in the 1985 cult favorite Goonies.

Goonies 2 will be coming from the original director Richard Donner. The story has already been written by Steven Spielberg, who co-wrote the original. Donner said he wants to reunite the as much of the original Goonies cast as he can. Sadly, two of the actors in the original Goonies film have died.

A complete Goonies cast reunion, will never happen because Anne Ramsey, who played lead villain Mama Fratelli, died in 1988. John Matuszak, who played Mama Fratelli's son Sloth, died in 1989.

Richard Donner was the director of the original cult movie The Goonies. When asked if Corey Feldman, Sean Astin, Martha Plimpton and Josh Brolin would return, Donner told TMZ "If they have any sense they will. If they don't, they won't."

Donner hopes to still reunite Mikey, Brand, Chunk, Data and Mouth for Goonies 2.

Sean Astin told TMZ "Dick Donner and Steven Spielberg have my heart. They tell me where to show up, I'll show up."

Sean Astin told TV Guide, "It will happen. I'm 1000 percent certain there will be a sequel. I will bet my children on it." Corey Feldman took to his blog to answer "Oh my God. I am betting no child on this matter."

Rumors about "Goonies 2" have been rampant since the first movie came out in 1985. "Goonies" was written by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus.

The Goonies' sequel will find the stars reuniting 20 years later to solve a new mystery with kids of their own.

The Oscar-winning director of "Jaws," "ET" and "Schindler's List, Spielberg was the writer, producer and second unit director on the original Goonies film, which starred Corey Feldman, Josh Brolin, Sean Astin and Martha Plimpton.

Donner said "Steven came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years. You don't do [a "Goonies" sequel] without him. Hopefully we're going to get this done, period. You don't do it without him. We've been trying for a long time, then he came up with another storyline and he's right on."

There's no word yet on when The Goonies 2 is expected to start filming.
