Jackie Chan's Son Jaycee Arrested For Drug Use, Embarrasses Drug Ambassador Father

Jackie Chan’s son, Jaycee, was arrested for drug possession in Beijing, after police found 100 grams of marijuana in his home. The 32-year-old singer and actor also tested positive for the drug, and authorities say he allowed others to use it in his house. The news of his arrest is particularly embarrassing for his father, who was appointed five years ago as a “Narcotics Control Ambassador” by the Chinese Police.

The younger Chan was arrested along with his friend, 23-year-old Taiwanese movie star Kai Ko. The arrest was part of a larger crack down the Chinese government has been implementing on celebrity drug users, which has included several other drug busts involving mainland, Taiwanese and Hong Kong actors. In addition, it was announced on August 13 that some 42 entertainment and performance agencies in China have agreed to boycott drug using actors, neither casting them in movies, nor booking them for public appearances. Chan could face up to three years in prison if convicted.

The arrest serves as one more blow to the already strained relationship between the junior Chan and his father. In April 2011, Jackie Chan said he had written his son out of his will, and would instead leave his entire fortune to charity. At the time, he said, “If he is capable he can make his own money. If not, then he will just be wasting my money.” This was after Jaycee experienced a series of box office flops, included Double Trouble, which starred both Chans and was Jackie’s worst grossing film to date. The senior Chan also one pledged to report his son to the police if he ever caught him using drugs, in order to ensure he “gets sent to jail.”
