Tom Cruise’s Movie ‘Minority Report’ Becomes TV Series? Director Steven Spielberg Hires ‘Godzilla’ Writer To Helm Show

Tom Cruise's movie "Minority Report" is reportedly being rebooted for a TV series as creator Steven Spielberg tapped "Godzilla" writer Max Borenstein to pen the script.

According to The Wrap, the TV series from Tom Cruise's movie "Minority Report" will possibly focus on the PreCrime unit and the cases it solves. Reportedly, Steven Spielberg is looking at an A-lister to lead the cast of the futuristic show, just like how he managed to convince Halle Berry to headline the "Extant" TV series.

Steven Spielberg and Max Borenstein still haven't made any confirmation regarding the report.

If the "Minority Report" TV series will push through, the website said that it won't be as groundbreaking since the same concept is already being used by the "Person of Interest" TV series starring James Caviezel and produced by "Star Wars: Episode VII" director JJ Abrams. Although it said that based on the viewership alone, there seems to be an interest on the same type of show.

Distributed by 20th Century Fox and directed by Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise's movie "Minority Report" was both a critical and commercial success after it earned $358 million in the worldwide box-office. The film was based on the short story by Philip K. Dick and tells the tale of the PreCrime unit headed by its most decorated operative, John Anderton.

It's the year 2054 and society has rid itself of crime thanks to a system using three pre-cogs who can see into the future and predict crimes. The PreCrime unit is tasked to prevent the crime even before they happen. But John Anderton's life is turned upside down when the pre-cogs predicted that he will kill somebody in the next 36 hours.

TVGuide reported that Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment has produced TV projects throughout the years, including "Extant," "Falling Skies" and the still to be released "Red Band Society," which is based on the Spanish series "Polseres vermelles" and will star Octavia Spencer.
