‘Full House’ Revival In The Works? John Stamos Fights For Original Cast Reboot But Are Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen On Board?

TGIF is certainly making a comeback. After nearly twenty years, it seems as if the family favorite television series "Full House" may be getting a reboot.

And reports indicate that John Stamos may be getting the original cast on board.

According to TV Guide, a reboot of "Full House," which aired on ABC's TGIF (Thank God It's Friday) from 1987 to 1995, is being considered by Warner Brothers.

John Stamos, who has an ownership stake in the show and played Uncle Jessie on the series, is reportedly spearheading the idea, while executive producer Bob Boyett and creator Jeff Franklin are claimed to be "actively involved." Franklin, in fact, is said to be writing the new version.

This past winter, Stamos appeared on the Bravo show "Watch What Happens Live" and told host Andy Cohen that a "Full House" remake was in the works.

"We're sort of working on a twist on a sequel," revealed Stamos. "But we don't know if it's going to happen yet or not."

As for the cast, it appears as if many of the show's original faces are interested in resuming their "Full House" roles.

Candace Cameron Bure, who played oldest Tanner sister D.J., is reportedly considering a return, as well as Jodie Sweetin, who played precocious Stephanie, and Andrea Barber, who fans remember as D.J.'s loud mouth pal Kimmy.

Bob Saget, who played family patriarch Danny Tanner, and Dave Coulier, who portrayed loveable goofball Joey, are allegedly "involved in some way," according to TV Guide.

Lori Laughlin is also allegedly interested in returning, although the actress who played Aunt Becky once told E! that she wasn't so sure about a reboot.

"I don't think that there are any plans for a movie," Loughlin told Marc Malkin at E! "If it were a really good script and a great project," she continued, "but sometimes I think that it's better off to leave those TV shows as they were and not do reunion shows."

It seems Uncle Jessie's main squeeze has had a change of heart.

And what about baby of the family, Michelle Tanner? It doesn't look good for fans of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who rose to fame on the show and quickly became some of the wealthiest children stars in history. In 2007, Forbes estimated that Mary-Kate and Ashley had a combined net worth of $100 million, although their retail empire Dualstar Entertainment has been valued around $1 billion.

The famous twins, who traded off playing little Michelle on the ABC show, have indicated that they are no longer interested in working on-camera.

Mirror Online reported in January that Ashley claimed to have no plans to go back to acting.

"I was reading scripts, and ultimately I just said to the people who are representing me, 'I need to do things 100 percent. I don't feel like I can give you 100 percent of my time. There's a lot of compromise in the entertainment industry. I can't sit in this room and audition for this part,'" said Ashley.

Although Mary-Kate has showed more interest in acting, having appeared in films like "The Wackness" and "Beastly," she too has implied that her focus now lies elsewhere.

"I am not great at not being able to control the end product," Mary-Kate told Allure Magazine, in reference to her decision to take a break from acting.

With both sisters preoccupied with running their multi-million dollar corporation, it seems that the future of Michelle Tanner on a "Full House" reboot is uncertain.

But would a revival of the TGIF show two decades after its finale be successful?

According to TV Guide, it very well could be. The publication reports that the series has reached far beyond its eight seasons on the air. "Full House" reruns that currently appear on Nick at Nite average 1.5 million viewers an episode, which is up 7 percent from last year.

Additionally, Nick at Nite reportedly claims that the show has a "healthy teen fan base," indicating that the series may appeal to new viewers who weren't yet born when the show ended.

With the recent success of Disney's "Girl Meets World," the revival of TGIF's beloved "Boy Meets World," it seems Stamos and crew may be jumping in on a family sitcom renaissance.

"Girl Meets World," which was just renewed for a second season, premiered on Disney Channel with 5.2 million viewers and has averaged 3 million views per episode since the pilot.

Now if we could only get Alan Thicke and Kirk Cameron on board to bring back "Growing Pains." Leonardo DiCaprio would definitely guest star, right?
