Joan River news update is grim as the "Fashion Police" host is feared to remain a vegetable or confined in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Daughter Melissa, however, is hoping for the best after the botched surgery.

According to the latest Joan Rivers news from NY Daily News, the comedian's family is reportedly considering a lawsuit against the doctors following her vocal cord surgery at a private facility at the Upper East Side in New York.

The comedian reportedly went into a cariac arrest that left her in a coma last Thursday morning and she's now being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital.

A source told the NY Daily News that Joan Rivers has a difficult battle ahead of her.

"The waking-up process has begun and will take until Tuesday. There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair," the source added.

Melissa in a statement published on E! News addressed supporters and fans of her mother as she said, "Thank you for your continued love and support.We are keeping our fingers crossed."

"Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery," the statement added.

More Joan Rivers news was reported by E! News when it published an interview with George Kotsiopoulos, the 81-year-old's co-host on "Fashion Police," who said: "Social media has really just been very supportive and I think that is important right now if we collectively we all just pray for Joan to be well and back and laughing with us very soony. Melissa and Cooper need you. We all need you. The world needs you."

Another co-host of Joan Rivers, Kelly Osborne, took to Twitter and wrote: "4 the first time in years I got down on my knees & prayed tonight! I encourage U 2 do the same 4 @Joan_Rivers my grandma! #inconsolable."
