In the "New Girl" season 4 spoilers from Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Liz Meriwether reveals what Winston is calling the "Joe Biden" strategy that Winston is telling Jess to follow, "which is to just be there. She just tries to stay in the game."

Although Nick and Jess are not officially a couple anymore, they are still living together as they try to keep the friendship. That will result into a lot of awkwardness and tension between the two.

In explaining the breakup, Zooey Deschanel says in the teaser video released by Fox and uploaded on TV Over Mind: "Nick and Jess sort of realized that they're not as compatible as they might have thought," she said.

Liz Meriwether added during the same clip that having them live together is "opening up a whole new area of stories with them being exes, which I think is like a really interesting, fun, new territory."

Previous "New Girl" season 4 spoilers hinted of a new man in Jess' life as Julian Morris was added to the cast in a recurring role.

The Entertainment Weekly dished out "New Girl" season 3 spoilers when it said that Julian Morris of "Once Upon A Time" will play the role of Ryan, whom it described as "a distractingly handsome teacher who replaces Jess in the classroom now that she's the vice principal."

Jess will still fall in love with him, according to showrunner Liz Meriwether, which creates some complications.

"The complication is that she's very much his boss. Jess is fighting her feelings for this teacher at work," she said.
