Leona Lewis Admits Struggling From Depression In Open Letter To Fans; Finally Decides To Break Free From Cowell's Syco

Eight years after her success from winning the X-Factor singing extravaganza, Leona Lewis revealed to her fans on Instagram of her 'extreme depression' due to the making of her fifth upcoming album said to have violated the singer's artistic style and preferences, Huffington Post reports. The Bleeding Love singer's dilemma led her, finally, to end her singing contract with Syco, a recording company owned and managed by X-Factor judge, Simon Cowell's recording company.

In an ordinary paper, the two-page letter speaks of the superstar's innermost struggles that have contributed to her decision of leaving Syco which she considers as her 'safety net' and starting up a contract with Island Records.  "One day everything changed. For my fifth album, I was asked to make a record that would not have been true to myself. By all means as an artist in this climate, I was thankful to even get the chance to make another record. But I cannot make music that does not speak to my soul, and as scary as it seemed, I could no longer compromise myself, and so I decided to leave."

The letter further deals with the singer's anxiety with her future, in general and how her decision might affect her image and the people close to her but she has 'learnt to block the negativity' as UK Mail Online said. Her anxiety , according to Lewis, has caused her to "spiral to a dark place" that lead her to think of other issues around her "the future, work, how I look, the images of horror on the news, the way humans treat humans, animals, the environment."

Her feelings towards last year's 'rollercoaster' journey wherein she feels much negativity invading her cheerful and goal-driven self. "At some points I felt extremely depressed and other times experienced amazing highs, but it got to a place where the downs were outweighing the ups. So I'm writing this letter for anyone who has ever felt the same way."

The Happy hitmaker's move made her fans more amazed with her. One fan commented ""Omg, i think this is the first time she's connected with the fans this deep. We love you Lee ❤ honestly one of the bravest , honest woman in the industry."

Leona had her first film casting on the musical, "Walking On Sunshine" this year, said to be 'sugary sweet but ultimately panned musical'.
