‘Harry Potter’ Dumbledore Gay Issue Defended By J.K. Rowling; How The ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Author Slammed An Anti-Gay Fan

The confirmation of Dumbledore as gay generated various reactions from "Harry Potter" fans. While Dumbledore's "gay coming out" took place in 2007, some people are still not over the issue.

One Twitter user named Frank Fraticelli expressed his disappointment for J.K. Rowling's decision to out the Hogwarts school headmaster: "Once u revealed Dumbledore was homosexual I stopped being a fan. Nice how u blindsided us with that one. Enjoy your billion $."

The British author noticed the hate tweet that she responded: "I advise you to start following Brian Souter at once. He's much more your kind of person."

Rowling was pertaining to Stagecoach founder Brian Souter who spearheaded a campaign which aspired to prevent the Scottish government from abolishing Section 2A of the Local Government Act. Such amendment prevents the promotion of homosexuality in the society. Souter reportedly donated a substantial amount of cash for the campaign.

While Fraticelli received backlash for his post, he remained firm regarding his views: "I made a comment about JKR + her homosexual wizard and my twitter account exploded," he wrote while adding, "EXCUSE ME for NOT accepting that deviant lifestyle lol."

In 2007, the 49-year-old novelist made the revelation in New York's Carnegie Hall during her US book tour. When asked by one member of the audience whether Dumbledore found true love, she responded:

"My truthful answer to you ... I always thought of Dumbledore as gay. ... Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was."

Rowling added that Dumbledore was "blinded" after being drawn to Grindelwald and was later left feeling "horribly, terribly let down by him."
