K-Pop Crossover: Singer-Songwriters Jesse Jo Stark And Kai Blast 'Doctor Pepper' In Support Of CL

Known for her celebrity acquaintances outside of Korea, 2NE1 frontwoman Lee "CL" Chaerin has garnered the support of Jesse Jo Stark and Kai as well.

On Sunday, the 24-year-old uploaded two short videos featuring Stark and Alessia De Gasperis Brigante (stage name Kai). Both singer-songwriters can be seen dancing to CL's collaboration single with Diplo, "Doctor Pepper."

"I miss my Kai," captioned CL.

As the daughter of the creators of the luxury brand Chrome Hearts, Stark is speculated to be a collaborator on CL's upcoming solo album, "Lifted." In 2013, the pair performed together at a Chromes Hearts Shinsegae event.

Like CL, Kai is slated to release her debut EP this year, and is known for her collaborations with Jack Ü, formed by Skrillex and Diplo. In addition to "Doctor Pepper," Diplo is reported to be heavily involved in CL's American debut.

"K-pop is a weird term because K-pop has everything-rap records, it's very pop-sounding, there are really boy-band sounding records," said the 36-year-old DJ-producer to Time magazine.

"It's going to be [labeled] K-pop because she's doing it, so it's going to be coming from another place and there's going to be Korean lyrics. But for the most part it's eclectic. She's very rap-leaning, she's very fashion forward. She's like the Nicki Minaj of that world."

In addition to touring with the Mad Decent Block Party concerts, CL is slated to release "Lifted" under Diplo's record label Mad Decent. Following the EP, CL will reportedly release a full album.

"I kept thinking, 'My fans should know here I'm going,'" CL told Dazed. "I didn't want them to be completely confused, because it's not going to be a Korean album."

Although music videos have reportedly been filmed in America, a release date for CL's debut has not yet been set.
