Unlike Adele's highly anticipated (and arguably highly delayed) new album, Rihanna's next release is still wrapped in mystery.
According to various reports, a major reason could in fact be the upcoming "25" release on Nov. 20 by Adele. Although Rihanna had previously teased a November release, the competition has reportedly caused a setback with the new album now touted for a December release instead.
"Robyn is not happy with the new album," said Rihanna's father Ronald to The Sun UK.
"She's not comfortable with it. When she went over the songs she found all these little things she wanted to change and was worried about it. It's a long process and isn't easy. It's been three years now since her last album and she wants this to blow everything else away, no competition, because she's calling it her 'first album.'"
If this is true, then it could also be holding up the reported "massive" $25 million Samsung deal Rihanna has in store for the new album. Reportedly, the deal has been in store for seven months and Samsung hope to use the release to promote their streaming service, Milk Music. Rihanna's co-ownership of Jay Z's TIDAL music service has also been speculated to be an issue, given its overlap to Milk Music.
Despite being also three years since her last release, Adele does not seem to be facing similar snags in her upcoming release. According to EW, her comeback single "Hello" is the first song to sell at least 1 million downloads in a week, in addition to breaking Taylor Swift's video record for single-day views.
