Following the success of the gaming series "The Last Of Us," creators of the game decided that they could possibly take the title to the movie theaters.
Rumors, however, plague the internet, as fans are figuring out who could Naughty Dog Studios get to cast as the main characters in the story, Joel and Ellie.
However, game creator Neil Druckmann recently talked about the fate of the game in a Slash Film report.
Earlier this year, he revealed how they have a few actors lined up to play the role of the main characters for "The Last Of Us" movie.
In addition to that, he talked about how the movie is in progress after he finished the second draft a few months back and revealed that the story of the game and the movie would have "big changes" and at the same time still be "faithful to the game."
"I just finished a second draft, and we did a table read with a bunch of actors," he said. "Pretty faithful to the game. There are some big changes, but the tone and what the story's trying to say is pretty faithful to the game."
Rumors and speculations for the role of Joel, meanwhile, is said to be Dylan McDermott, Hugh Jackman or Gerard Butler.
The Ellie role, meanwhile, is starting to look like that "Game Of Thrones" star Maisie Williams is starting to look like the perfect fit for the project.
In a report by Coming Soon, Williams already revealed the possibility of her being in the "The Last Of Us" movie after she talked to movie executives earlier this year.
"I had a lunch a little while ago and we spoke about the possibility of me playing Ellie and that's really exciting and I would absolutely love to," Williams said about the potential "The Last Of Us" movie casting. "They announced at Comic-Con that we had spoken about it, and since then in like every interview people have been asking me about it."
"Honestly I would love to and I think they would love me to play Ellie also, and that's where it is at the moment. There's no script, no director, it's still very early days for the whole project, but if it all goes ahead soon enough I think, yeah, I would love to."
