Metallica New Album In Progress; Bassist Robert Trujillo Reveals His Project

Metallica is prepping up a new album release and the members of the band are all excited for what they have been writing about so far.

In a recent interview, which was reported by Loud Wire, Metallica singer James Hetfield revealed that they are currently working on a new album, which he claimed would be a surprise for their fans.

"I tell ya, we're recording right now, and there's the number one guitar, there's the number two guitar, there's the number three," Hetfield said.

As for their progress, guitarist Kirk Hammett revealed in an interview with Billboard that they still have a long way to go before they could come up with the record, hinting a possible 2016 release.

"We have well over a dozen songs and we still have well over two or three hundred riffs, too, so it's hard to say at what point we actually are in in the project," Hammett said of the new Metallica album. "I don't think we hit the middle point yet. I would say we're at the 25 percent point, maybe 30 percent point."

Meanwhile, while preparing for the new album, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo revealed his "passion project" of a documentary film about one of his idols bassist, Jaco Pastorius.

In a report by Loud Wire, Trujillo revealed the official trailer of his film "Jaco: The Movie," which is expected to hit VOD and other streaming services on Nov. 27.

"Our film tells the story of Jaco Pastorius, a self-taught, larger than life musician who made an undeniable impact on music, and reinvented the electric bass; giving the instrument a powerful dynamic voice that had both edge and beauty," he said.

The film will also feature other bassists such as Flea, Geddy Lee and Sting, among others.

Trailer for "Jaco: The Movie" could be seen below.
