A few months, weeks, and almost 20 episodes into the "Dragon Ball Super" anime series, and an English dub has finally been confirmed.
Unfortunately, it likely won't include the voice cast you're used to.
According to reports, Time Warner's "Toonami" block in South and Southeast Asia have announced that they will soon premiere a "Dragon Ball Super" English dub. Despite having released the previous "Dragon Ball Z" movie English dubs, North American anime licensing company Funimation has denied any involvement in this specific "Dragon Ball Super" English dub.
"FUNimation has no connection with the Toonami Asia Announcement or the premiere of its English language version of Dragon Ball Super in mid-2016," said a Funimation representative (via Kanzenshuu).
The announcement of a Toonami-run "Dragon Ball Super" English dub definitely seems as though Funimation would be involved. However, given that the company has yet to license the series for English subtitled streaming, it does makes sense that the company is not involved.
Despite Funimation's lack of involvement, fans itching for the "Dragon Ball Super" English dub will only have to wait until mid-2016 for its Toonami Asia premiere. According to Crunchyroll, Toonami describes "Dragon Ball Super" as follows:
"Reuniting the franchise's iconic characters, 'Dragon Ball Super' follows the aftermath of Goku's fierce battle with Majin Buu, as he attempts to maintain earth's fragile peace. Overseen by 'Dragon Ball's original creator, Akira Toriyama and produced with Fuji Television, 'Dragon Ball Super' will draw on its historic past to create a bold, new universe welcoming to fans and endearing to new viewers."
