"Guardians of the Galaxy 2's" plot will explore the relationship between sisters Gamora and Nebula.
Last year's surprise hit saw Marvel introduce the space dimension to their Cinematic Universe. According to Screen Rant, the film's success could largely be attributed to its "strong and charming, yet deeply flawed characters," which was evident even in the villains, namely Nebula, played by Karen Gillan.
Nebula and her protagonist sister Gamora (played by Zoe Saldana) were very similar, only that Nebula was loyal to his "father" Thanos. It the original film, Nebula had a moment to redeem herself, but opted to lose her hand rather that reconcile with her sister. With the sequel on the way, it seems that the sisters will soon reunite.
Comic Book Resources caught up with Gillan during the premiere of "The Big Short" in Hollywood, and revealed that "Guardian of the Galaxy 2's" plot will explore more of Nebula's relationship with her sister Gamora.
"I think what I'm really excited about it delving into the sisterly relationship between Gamora and Nebula," she quipped. "I think that we're going to see a little bit more of that, and it's going to be a bit more fleshed out."
With the plot of "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2" slightly revealed, writer and director James Gunn claimed that they will start filming in Feb. 2016 at the Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, GA.
Along with Saldana's Gamora and Gillan's Nebula, it will also reprise Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as Groot, Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as Rocket Racoon and Benicio Del Toro (Sicario) as the Collector. It will also reveal the identity of Quill's father and feature more Thanos (played by Josh Brolin), according to Slash Film.
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" arrives in theaters on May 5, 2017.
