'The Collected Works Of Hayao Miyazaki' Boxed Set Has One Unfortunate Flaw

"The Collected Works Of Hayao Miyazaki" is a boxed set perfect for Studio Ghibli fans.

Studio Ghibli has come up with a number of different movies over the years that have become iconic in pop culture. Not only do these film tell great stories, but they are also well-loved by audiences of all ages.

While Studio Ghibli may not be making any movies for a while, as legendary animator Hayao Miyazaki had announced his retirement, "The Collected Works Of Studio Ghibli" set should be just the thing to satisfy the craving of Hayao Miyazaki's animated works.

Forbes reported that it was Disney's idea to come up with a film library set full of Miyazaki's works.

The set is beautifully packages in a book-like disc binder that makes it easier to get the discs out of the side. The case itself features poster art for all 11 films and each film is presented in the interior pages with a very detailed illustration.

The films that are included are "Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro" (1979), "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" (1984), "Castle in the Sky" (1986), "My Neighbor Totoro" (1988), "Kiki’s Delivery Service" (1989), "Porco Rosso" (1992), "Princess Mononoke" (1997), "Spirited Away" (2001), "Howl’s Moving Castle" (2004), "Ponyo" (2008/2009) and "The Wind Rises" (2013).

Fans of the films will be glad to know that each of the discs include the original Japanese language track and English subtitles based on the original translation.

Unfortunately, as rerported by Comic Book, the boxed set is so close to being the perfect Studio Ghibli collectible but falls short of an important feature. It doesn't come with film-specific extras that would show behind the scenes material fans want to see. However, the collection has interviews, storyboards and concept art.

To those interested in buying one for themsleves, Amazon reported that "The Collection Works of Hayao Miyazaki" would cost $215. This price is much cheaper as its an Amazon exclusive and would cost $250 otherwise.
