'Gremlins 3' Release Date Isn't Anytime Soon, The Film May Be Set 30 Years After As A Reboot

"Gremlins 3" release date is being set.

No one knew that the "Gremlins" movie would turn out to be a huge success. It had the unlikely combination of genres that made it a christmas comedy meets horror movie. However, brains of Chris Columbus created an engaging and amusingly-creepy story that many would be entertained by.

According to E!Online, actor Zach Galligan, who played the boy who gets the cute furry mowgai, spilled the beans on a possible "Gremlins" movie. "It's not going to be a reboot. It will not be a remake in any way, shape or form," he said during a screening of the 1984 cult-horror film in London this week.

"Chris Columbus has come out and said that the first film is very near and dear to his heart and as long as he is alive it will never be remade," Galligan said. "So the only thing they will be, and apparently are going to be doing, is something along the lines of like Jurassic World, where it will be 30 years later.

While there may seem to be reservations if a "Gremlins 3" release date is in the future, even Chris Columbus told Slashfilm that he'll be participating in the third movie as a producer. He said, "We were approached with an idea that really sounded like an itneresting version. It's not a remake of the movie at all...it's just a reinvention of it."

There is no "Gremlins 3" release date announced yet as the film has not been finalized.

"Gremlins" is a 1984 American comedy horror film that is about a young man who recives a strange creature called a mogwai as a pet.
