At The Drive In Reunion Happening In 2016! Group To Release A New Album As Well?

Hardcore rock group At The Drive In is reportedly gearing up for a reunion in 2016, as the group is scheduled to appear in a big festival next year.

In a recent report by Consequence Of Sound, the band confirmed that they are lined up to play at the Rock On The Range Music Festival in May 2016, which will be their first appearance together in four years.

At The Drive In re-grouped in 2012 but didn't last long. Now that a 2016 reunion is set, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez revealed how he doesn't feel like playing their old tracks.

"When playing those songs, I thought, 'Here's a person at the time that I don't relate to anymore,'" the co-founder of the group said. "He didn't care about his life and was doing drugs and was really disconnected from the world and a whole lot of other personal stuff that I won't get into. If I give myself to that, I can feel the psychological effects of that personality in the same way that an actor can say it wasn't healthy to live in that role so long or bring that role home every night."

Meanwhile, an NME report stated how the band is not set to have a new album out and the reunion in 2016 for At The Drive In is starting to look like a one-time deal again.

In an interview, Rodriguez-Lopez stated how each member is focused on each other's projects and the possibility of regrouping the band permanently seems unlikely.

"We don't talk about it that way," he said. "It's there; we have possibilities. Everybody's doing something right now. Cedric has a record coming out, Tony and Jim in Sparta are doing stuff. We're just trying to feel again when the moment opens up where nothing is forced and nothing is an obligation."
