MAMA 2015: Top SM Entertainment Acts Girls' Generation, EXO Win Best Group Awards

There is often discussion within K-pop communities of the sheer amount of k-pop groups promoting at any given time. Though the saturation may seem overwhelming to new fans, veterans can easily spot the groups that will become big.

That's because chances are, that group will be signed to one of the Big 3 entertainment labels, SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, or JYP Entertainment.

It was certainly a big night at the 2015 MAMA ceremony for all three companies, but SM Entertainment managed to snag both Best Group categories this year with Girls' Generation and EXO. Moreover, EXO grabbed one of the biggest awards that night, the "UnionPay Album of the Year," for their second full length album "EXODUS."

The success at the 2015 MAMA ceremony continue what has been a record setting year for SM Entertainment. As of August 2015, the company experienced an operating profit of 117 billion won (about 100 Million USD), up 22.5% from 2014 numbers during the same period.

"Thanks to the hard work of our various artists including TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, f(x), EXO, and Red Velvet, our sales in China have sharply increased by 114% from last year," said an SM Entertainment representative in August (via Koreaboo).

Additional success for SM Entertainment at the 2015 MAMA ceremony include Girls' Generation's Taeyeon winning Best Female Artist for her solo album release earlier this year, EXO's additional wins for Global Fans' Choice and Best Asian Style, and f(x)'s win for Global Fans' Choice Female Group.

All in all, it was definitely a great night for SM Entertainment at the 2015 MAMA ceremony. Fans can view the full list of winners here.
