Could it be true that Pepsi has opted for Coldplay to headline the Super Bowl halftime show over Britney Spears?
In a report by Wall Street Journal, as shared by Direct Lyrics, it was revealed that the British rock band has been named as the "official halftime performer of next year's Super Bowl," and not the 34-year-old pop princess.
With this development, Direct Lyrics noted that "The meltdowns and rants following the announcement were REAL, and especially noticeable on forums and Twitter."
The report further narrated that with the announcement which said that Britney Spears is allegedly out of Super Bowl, "some really nasty and hateful comments towards the Chris Martin-led band" have been observed.
"I'm pissed. Only way this can be salvaged: Bey and 1D as guests," one comment reportedly read, while the other stated, "Meltdown Activated. Army, let's go. It's time to stomp on some necks."
Someone also alleged that without the "Baby One More Time" singer around, "It will be a boring ass mess of a show."
Meanwhile, another commenter said, "Not Britney? Super Bowl Cancelled."
As for Direct Lyrics, it somehow appeared "hard to believe" when rumors about Britney Spears performing at Super Bowl's halftime sparked considering that "she has an exclusivity clause with Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, where she's doing her residency shows."
"And with the respect to Coldplay being the ones picked, I'm really happy about it," Direct Lyrics dished. "Although in all honesty I was kind of surprised when I read a British act would be in charge of the 2016 Super Bowl halftime show and not a 'local' star."
In the meantime, DNA India reported that comedian Joselyn Hughes, in a YouTube video, threw some hints about the star of the Super Bowl 2016 that is happening in February, which the fans theorized to be "Oops!... I Did It Again" artist Britney Spears.
