Blake Shelton was still not over the news that he will be without girlfriend Gwen Stefani come season 10 of "The Voice" as Christina Aguilera was poised to return.
During the finale of the "The Voice," the "Austin" singer pointed out that season 9 was a "standout" year for the show due partly to the team of coaches that worked together. At the end of his spiel, he also continued to hold on the hope that the No Doubt front man will be back next season.
"I'll tell you one of the things for me personally is getting back to this particular combination of coaches," the "Austin" singer shared about why season 9 felt special as cited by People.
"There's something to be said about every combination," he further said. "But there's something about this one that is a standout to me because there's just so much history here with these four coaches. You can't fake that. There's friendships that go way back. When you get to work with your friends like ... who gets to do that? It's pretty cool."
"I'll see you next season [Gwen Stefani]," Blake Shelton reiterated as quoted by Inquisitr even though news of Christina Aguilera's return was already locked.
The "Dirrty" singer has given her support for the "The Voice" dating pair back in November when they went public with the relationship.
"They're both great people and divorce is rough," the "Dirrty" singer pointed out to the Associated Press. "Let them have their happiness."
"You don't need to fill your mind or give your energy to any of it," she also told the "Austin" singer and No Doubt front man about being the target of rumors. "Keep it positive. Do what makes you happy. Do what makes your soul feel good."
Despite the "Dirrty" singer's show of support, it does not appear up to now that she would postpone her comeback on "The Voice" next season. She has only expressed excitement for her comeback in October.
"Get ready boys mama's comin' back," Christina Aguilera posted on Twitter in October upon the announcement of her return and prior to Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's dating news.
