Eun Ji Won Puts To Rest Sechs Kies Comeback Rumors

After initial reports on Thursday of a return of Sechs Kies to the K-pop scene in 2015, one member spoke up.

On Thursday, The Pop Herald announced a possible return of two 1990's K-pop groups, HOT and Sechs Kies. Shortly after the report, former Sechs Kies member Eun Ji Won clarified that no planned comeback for the first generation group was in the works.

"There are no concrete plans for a Sechs Kies reunion next year," former Sechs Kies leader Eun Ji Won told Star News on Thursday.

Sechs Kies debuted in 1997 and was the main rival of first generation K-pop group HOT until Sechs Kies disbanded in 2000.

During a past interview, Eun Ji Won revealed that Sechs Kies allegedly broke up at the height of their career based on the members' decision.

Every year, news of Sechs Kies return is speculated by Korean music outlets, but the group hasn't returned as a whole since 2000.

While Sechs Kies is unlikely to make a return, rookie K-pop idol group Up10tion performed Sechs Kies' "Couple" while Monsta X performed rival group H.O.T's "We Are The Future" at the Christmas special of KBS's "Music Bank" on Friday.

Edit: The article originally said that Monsta X performed Sechs Kies' "We Are The Future."
