One K-pop star thinks 2015 was a great year for idol performers.
VIXX's N recently discussed his appreciation for the TV music program "King of Mask Singer."
On the "MBC Music 2015" end-of-the-year wrap-up on December 30, the South Korean network chose "King of Mask Singer" as the best music entertainment program of the year.
Among a panel of celebrities, VIXX's N chimed in to give his two cents on the singing show. "The program was great for idols as well," he said. "You can compete with music rather than image or looks."
"Idols were able to show singing skills through this program, rather than fancy performances that we normall have to do," he explained. "We're young but we're able to show deep emotions through it."
"It's really a hand of god for idols," he added.
Ji Sang Ryul, another panelist for the year-end special, agreed. "I honestly doubted if idols can memorize all the lyrics to the songs they sing but they sang all of them perfectly so I was shocked," he said.
Competitors on "King of the Mask Singer" don elaborate masks to conceal their identities while performing against one another each week. The famous contestants are unmasked only when ousted by the reigning champion.
