Weapons Of Mass K-Pop: South Korea Resumes Loudspeaker Attacks Against The North

South Korea is planning use K-pop once again by blasting music through border loudspeakers in a response to North Korea's continued nuclear testing.

In August, the loudspeakers were temporarily turned off as part of a deal made between the two countries. However, on Dec. 8, South Korea restarted their campaign of psychological warfare by turning the border loudspeakers back on.

The reaction is due to Kim Jong Eun refusal to cease development of nuclear weapons. The country is said to have conducted their fourth nuclear test on Jan. 6, which measured a 5.1 on the Richter scale.

The loudspeakers are one of South Korea's most effective tools in fighting North Korean propaganda. Soldiers along the border hear a mix of recent news, discussions about human rights, and K-pop music.

Once soldiers return home, word of the loudspeakers and their catchy tunes spreads rapidly.

The loudspeakers reportedly play songs by Big Bang, Girls' Generation, and IU.
