Kangta Of 1st Generation K-Pop Act H.O.T Calls On Talents Of Younger Idols For New Album

One longtime K-pop singer will be collaborating with a few younger stars for his forthcoming album.

Kangta (Ahn Chil Hyun), who rose to fame in the '90s as a member of first generation K-pop male group H.O.T, is reaching a major milestone in his career, and will drop a new album in celebration.

During an interview with Sportsbiz on Monday, Jan. 11, Kangta discussed the projects he is working on as H.O.T's 20th anniversary nears.

"As this year marks the 20th anniversary of my debut, I wanted to release an album to celebrate it," said Kangta, as reported by K-Pop Herald. "I’m working on it right now, and have so many songs on my list."

"I’m thinking of collaborating with older and younger musicians with songs carefully selected from the list," he added, saying he plans to reach out some up and coming idols for some of the tracks.

Kangta's last Korean studio album, Eternity was released in 2008, although he has performed several songs for various TV soundtracks in the years since then.

Back in November 2014, H.O.T member Jang Woo Hyuk revealed the group plans to have an official reunion for their milestone anniversary.

H.O.T was formed by SM Entertainment founder and producer Lee Soo Man in 1996. The group disbanded in 2001. They are known for the single "Candy."
