'Half Life 3' Release Date Rumors: Valve has been trying to keep news about "Half Life 3" under wraps, but fans have been getting details where they can. A rumor says "Half Life 3" will be available in Steam database.
Rumors suggest that Valve might be planning for a next-level "Half-Life" experience for players, and that it might even make "Half-Life 3" a VR-supported title. The Half-Life 3 game developer has not made any comments yet.
Valve let a fan-made "Half-Life" series-inspired game, "Prospekt," go live on Steam.
Half-Life 3 has been in the list of Webhallen, a Danish retail website, as one of the games ready for pre-orders for release this 2016. The web listing even mentions Half-Life 3's price, image, product description and release date, adding that information are preliminary and may change.
Marc Laidlaw announced he is resigned from Valve and it looks like he has retired from game-making, according to Reddit. Laidlaw was a developer and writer at Valve since 1997. He was the sole writer for both Half-Life 1 and 2.
"I am no longer a full or part time Valve employee, no longer involved in day-to-day decisions or operations, no longer a spokesperson for the company, no longer privy to most types of confidential information, no longer working on Valve games in any capacity," Laidlaw write to a fan on Reddit.
"An outwardly obvious reason is that I'm old, or anyway oldish. My nickname when I first started at Valve in 1997 was 'old man Laidlaw'. The little baby level designer who gave me that that nickname is now older than I was then. I had a good run but lately I have been feeling a need for a break from the collaborative chaos of game production, and a return to more self-directed writing projects."
Laidlaw said he will return to writing in mediums other than games.
SteamDB got hold of a new list of games possibly coming to Steam that includes the PS4 hit Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD and Half Life. 3.
SteamDB found evidence of gaming's greatest vaporware inside Valve's PC game sharing program, in the hl3.txt found in the DOTA 2 update.
