"G.I. Joe" actor Lee Byung Hun will become the first ever Korean actor to present an Oscar at the Academy Awards next month.
Lee Byung Hun's agency, BH Entertainment, recently told South Korean media that the actor will be a presenter at the 88th annual Academy Awards. It is not yet determined what award Lee will present at the Los Angeles-based award ceremony.
"Lee is very much honored to be invited to such a prestigious awarding ceremony," revealed BH Entertainment, reported the K-Pop Herald.
After becoming a top Asian star thanks to performances in dramas like "Iris" and films like "JSA" and "The Good, The Bad, The Weird," Lee made his American debut in 2009 with "G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra." He reprised his role in "G.I Joe: Retaliation," and has also appeared in "Red 2" and "Terminator Genisys."
He will appear in the American films "Misconduct" and "The Magnificent Seven" later this year, and recently released "The Insiders" in Korea.
Lee will be one of two firsts for Korean people at this year's Academy Awards.
Opera singer Jo Sumi became the first ever Korean nominated for an Academy Award earlier this month. Her performance of David Lang's "Simple Song #3" for the film Youth was nominated in the best original song category.
