Rapper Zico is back with another new album and featuring new ventures for the rapper.
The Block B member, who has made a name for himself as a talented producer and musician, released his EP "Break Up 2 Make Up" on Monday. Music videos for lead singles "I Am You, You Are Me" and "It Was Love" were released the same day.
The new album from Zico (Woo Ji Ho) solidifies his identity as a multi-talented musician who is able to expand beyond a single genre of music.
The songs show a different style from the rapper, who made a name for himself throughout much of 2015 by releasing a multitude of funky, topical rap songs. Previously, Zico based many of his songs around a clear cut hip-hop style, but "Break Up 2 Make Up" offers depth from the musician that has previously just been hinted to.
"I Am You, You Are Me" features Zico's distinct vocals and rap, and is an uptempo R&B song that is a sharp change from his previous hits. Despite the new sound, "I Am You, You Are Me" flew to the top of Korean music charts upon its release.
The other single, "It Was Love" is sung entirely by f(x)'s Luna but was composed and written by the Block B rapper. Mariko Shinoda, a former member of Japanese girl group AKB48, was the featured actress in the music video.
f(x) and Zico previously collaborated on "Traveler" off of f(x)'s 2015 album "4 Walls."
Zico debuted as a member of Block B in 2011 following a career as an underground rapper and in a duo called "The Harmonics" alongside Block B's Park Kyung. Since debuting, Zico has released numerous mixtapes, albums and singles and has also produced numerous tracks. In 2015 alone, Zico released more than ten songs.
"Make Up 2 Break Up" was released on Jan. 25 and contains the two singles.
