Finally, after years since he worked on "Madoka Magica, "Psycho-Pass," and "Aldnoah.Zero," the Urobutcher is back and ready for character blood and brutality.
With puppets?
Shortly after being teased with a new Twitter account, Gen Urobuchi's new project entitled "Thunderbolt Fantasy" has been revealed. A new trailer, available to view below, features the puppets of the series that are designed like ancient Chinese royalty and a first listen at the previously announced Japanse voice cast.
"Thunderbolt Fantasy" will be released sometime in summer 2016.
Despite the somewhat absurd format of puppet animation, some fans in an ANN forum believe that because the project is from Gen Urobuchi, it is guaranteed to be worth it.
"At this point he's basically done everything else and has not disappointed me. Stop motion puppets? I'm ready, Urobuchi," said Navycherub.
Anime News Network reports that Gen Urobuchi not only created the series, but also is writing the scripts and will serve as the chief supervisor. Nitroplus is responsible for the character designs and Good Smile Company is credited as the modeling advisor for the puppets. PILI Multimedia in Taiwana is producing the series.
"Thunderbolt Fantasy" will also feature the following Japanese voice cast:
Kousuke Toriumi as Lin Xue Ya
Junichi Suwabe as Shang Bu Huan
Tomokazu Seki as Mie Tian Hai
Mai Nakahara as Dan Fei
Not much about the plot of "Thunderbolt Fantasy" has been revealed, but knowing Urobuchi, there will likely be a character who is concerned with justice and being tested for that concern.
"Sometimes when I see someone who's a spirit of justice... I feel like I want to destroy them! (laughs) But really, what I'm trying to do is make something compelling. Good and evil need to be on even ground, so that there is the real possibility that either could be the victor," said Urobuchi in an ANN interview.
