Several K-pop stars took home major trophies during the recent Gold Disk Awards in Japan.
Taking home the Best Asian Artist award was TVXQ, which now makes them the winner of this award for three consecutive years (2014, 2015, 2016). TVXQ also won an award for Best Music Video for TVXQ Live Tour 2015 WITH.
Super Junior's sub-group Super Junior D&E, comprised of members Donghae and Eunhyuk, won Album of the Year and Best 3 Album for their single titled "Present."
JYP Entertainment's muscled group 2PM also won an award for Best 3 Album. The group won for their fourth Japanese studio album 2PM of 2PM, which was released on April 15, 2015. Also, member Junho won award for his solo single titled "So Good."
Dal Shabet and Block B took home the award for Asia's Best 3 Artist. Dal Shabet has been building a solid fan base in Japan with the group's full-length album Hard 2 Love, which was released on Nov. 4.
SM Entertainment's popular male group EXO took home two trophies which were the New Artist and Asia's Best 3 Artist awards.
YG Entertainment's male group Big Bang won Song of the Year for "Bang Bang Bang" which raked in the most downloads. Big Bang released the Japanese version for "Bang Bang Bang" as part of their special MADE album that was released on Feb. 3.
The Japan Gold Disk Awards is one of the most prestigious music awards in the country, and determines winners based on their CD, video, and music film sales from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.
