'Thor 3' 2017 Casting and Plot Rumors: ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Won’t Feature Stellan Skarsgard; Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury May Play A Role On Thor: Ragnarok

'Thor 3' 2017 Casting and Plot Rumors: Marvel fans recently learned that one of their favorite non-superhero characters from the movie series will not appear in the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok" film.

Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard won't show up in next year's Thor: Ragnarok. Dr. Erik Selvig was first introduced in 2011's Thor and appeared in Thor: The Dark World and both Avengers movies.

Thor: Ragnarok will hit theaters on November 3, 2017, with pre-production currently under way in Australia before shooting starts this summer.

Mark Ruffalo hinted on his Facebook page that Thor: Ragnarok might be free to watch when it's released in 2017.

Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury may play a role in Thor: Ragnarok.

Cate Blanchett is in final negotiations to terrorize Chris Hemsworth's Thor in the upcoming "Thor 3: Ragnarok."

The Thor franchise has already featured superheroines like Jane Foster, Darcy, Sif, and Frigga but the villains have been male. Loki went up against the God of Thunder and the Avengers. Malekith stalked the Aether in Thor: The Dark World.

Thor: Ragnarok is the highly-anticipated third installment in the Thor series, which will follow up 2011's Thor and 2013's Thor: The Dark World.

Blanchett may play the role of villain Amora the Enchantress. Lainey Gossip was the first to report that "Valkyrie," "Amora the Enchantress" or "Hela" might appear in the third "Thor" movie.

"If Valkyrie is really coming to the big screen, that will make two high-profile female roles being cast in Ragnarok, because I have heard that Marvel is also planning on bringing their first major female villain into their cinematic universe," Lainey Gossip reported.

'Thor 3' is rumored to bring humor to the Norse gods.

"Thor 3: Ragnarok" will feature Mark Ruffalo from "Begin Again," as the Incredible Hulk. Marvel is negotiation with New Zealand director Taika Waititi, who direct the comedy series "Flight of the Concords," to lighten up what is being described as Marvel's darkest film yet.
