In a report by The Guardian, advance US Ticket Sales suggested "Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice" is on its way to hit $1 B movie sales.
It mentioned the movie will be able to outrun previous superhero movies, "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Avengers" and "Fast and Furious 7," if sales continue to soar and reviews won't derail its course. These movies were able to reach the billion-dollar mark worldwide during its respective launch in theaters.
As per Deadline, two weeks prior the movie's release, "Batman v Superman" is already ahead of the recent superhero movie, "Deadpool," which was also a huge hit among movie goers. "Deadpool" had an opening weekend sales of $132.4 M and a non-Warner Brothers analyst figured out the advance sales is around $20 M to $25 M for "Batman v Superman."
In case this happens, the movie will be the biggest Easter and April debut of all time, the report added.
In the same article, it mentioned that Movio did a comparison of moviegoer profile for those who bought advance ticket sales for the said movie and the previous "Jurassic World." It revealed a result that a male fan base is expected to dominate the audience.
"As expected, 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is anticipated by the fan male audience," revealed Movio Co-Founder and Chief Executive Will Palmer. "The audience profile is 78% male, massively over indexing between age 14-49. This is your avid opening weekend audience with some 70% attending films during opening week, spending 3.2 times more than the typical US moviegoer."
Although these figures already give hints to the opening scene of the highly anticipated movie, remaining information is still to be figured out by its actual performance in terms of sales and movie reviews.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens in theaters on March 25.
