UFC 200 already has a date and location. The major event from the most popular MMA fighting promotion will be on July 9, 2016 at Las Vegas Nevada. Specifically, the event will take place at the T-Mobile Arena with an overall capacity of 20,000. The event will most likely be fully booked as it marks a major milestone for UFC.
But even with the confirmation of the date and location, the major fighters primed to appear in the octagon have yet to be confirmed. As of this writing, MMA Junkie has an update on the fighters who could possibly appear in this major event: Travis Browne taking on Cain Velasquez, Derek Brunson against Gegard Mousasi and Conor McGregor's rematch with Nate Diaz. While these names are already mentioned for the upcoming events, there is no confirmation unless a format announcement is made.
The fight between Travis Brown and Cain Velasquez may not be a title fight but it's a heavyweight battle that marks the return of Velasquez from injury and Browne's ongoing quest to continue his winning ways since January's victory over Matt Mitrione. Bloody Elbow reports, "A pivotal heavyweight clash between former UFC champion Cain Velasquez and Travis Browne is currently targeted for this summer's UFC 200 landmark event..."
On the other hand, the Brunson-Mousasi match for UFC 200 is all but agreed on paper. According to MMA Junkie, "MMAjunkie confirmed with a person close to one of the fighters that are verbal agreements are in place but bout agreements haven't been signed. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity since the fight hasn't been made official. "
But the biggest fight of the night for UFC 200 is the rumored rematch of Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. BJPenn.com already has an update on the fight where Diaz and McGregor will face off at 170 instead of 155 pounds. But recent interview with Nate Diaz did not confirm anything and even suggests that Diaz wants to fight at 155. However, Diaz remarks that he's open to the "biggest fights," according to Bleacher Report and the biggest possible match UFC could offer right now is a rematch for McGregor.
