Comic book fans always anticipate the next big thing in comic-book adaptation on superheroes. Fortunately, the box office success of various adaptations has pushed studios to do more than just simple stand-alone movies while introducing new characters that could be part of a bigger setting.
One of those characters set to hit the big screen is "Gambit" with Channing Tatum helming the titular character.
But fans anticipating the movie adaptation of the Cajun superhero might exercise some patience. According to The Wrap, "'Gambit,' the Marvel Comics-based movie starring Channing Tatum and directed by Doug Liman, has been pushed from its Oct. 6 release date. More often than not, a push back often has a replacement date.
But for the case of "Gambit," no new date has been posted. The article also pointed out two more superhero movies set to be released on October 2017 and January 2018, but none of them is for "Gambit."
There are a lot of speculations regarding the movie's delay and eventual removal from its schedule. First is the resignation of its Rupert Wyatt as the film's director. The new director, Doug Liman, was only introduced in the later part of 2015 which ultimately delayed the film's production. But The Hollywood Reporter notes that Liman will work on "The Wall" by Amazon before tackling the Tatum-starred film. The film is also going through some rewrites.
While there is no definite date of release, there are people who are still working on the project even through its rewrites. Liman and Tatum are also attached to the project although they could be sidetracked by various commitments they deem more important.
For now, fans of the superhero can only hope that Tatum's version of the card throwing mutant will make an appearance in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Even though he did not make any confirmation of the cameo, he might surprise everyone with an appearance according to Cinema Blend.
