The world of Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting bigger and bigger. The blockbuster "Guardians of the Galaxy" expanded the universe to the outer realms of the galaxy while the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" will definitely stir things up here at home. But something different is also coming this November: "Doctor Strange" and will feature Benedict Cumberbatch as its titular character.
Gamespot recently updated fans of the upcoming comic book adaptation with a brand new image of the doctor seemingly casting a spell. The site also reported, "Cumberbatch was also recently spotted visiting a Manhattan comic book store after completion of shooting, in full costume." Of course, he was buying a copy of "Doctor Strange" according to Marvel's official Twitter account.
By this time, the strain of shooting for the film is nearly over and it would seem that the upcoming movie would be a complete stand alone with very little relation to other films. According to Movie Web, "As it turns out, the Big Apple shoot was an abbreviated one, as director Scott Derrickson brought everything to a close for this Marvel Phase 3 adventure." Since the announcement of casting and shooting in various locations, fans of Cumberbatch and even casual followers of the Marvel movies have seen various photos in relation to the film. None of those photos reveal a cameo of another superhero that already made their presence felt in MCU.
Of course, that doesn't mean "Doctor Strange" will not have any impact in MCU as he is practically the bridge for something unnatural and magical. According to Cinema Blend, "Doctor Strange will likely be a much more psychedelic experience for moviegoers that may be lighter on the action, but still a fascinating story. All this being said; we can still look forward to the film maintaining connections to the rest of the MCU, such as a possible tie-in with overarching villain Thanos."
