‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2; Series On Hold For Netflix’s Other Heroes And ‘The Defenders!’

"Jessica Jones" on Netflix is one of the many projects Marvel is working on with the media streaming giant. The success of "Daredevil" has prompted everyone involved to look beyond the blind superhero and consider other characters that could work within the platform of Netflix. "Jessica Jones" fits the bill and its 13-episode premiere season is big hit. Because of its success, Variety reports that "Netflix has put 'Jessica Jones' back on the case, announcing that it has given a second season of 13 episodes to the series starring Krysten Ritter as a private detective with superhuman abilities. "

Although the series has been renewed, the schedule or the date of its release on Netflix is still up in the air. According to Digital Spy, "at the TCA Press Tour last month, where stars Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Carrie-Anne Moss and Rachael Taylor joined showrunner Melissa Rosenberg on stage to offer some very, very vague hints about the next chapter...Nobody on stage had any idea when writing or production on the new season would begin, or how Jessica's next chapter would interact with Marvel's other upcoming shows."

Speaking of other upcoming shows, Jessica Jones and Daredevil will also welcome another superhero in Netflix: Luke Cage. Cage, played by Mike Colter, first appeared in "Jessica Jones." Eventually, Netflix will also bring them altogether for an Avenger-like series called "The Defenders."

The production of "The Defenders" has placed other series in the back burner. According to Cinema Blend, "with two more series on the table before 'The Defenders' gets here - 'Luke Cage' and 'Iron Fist' - it doesn't seem too likely that we'll get a Season 2 for anything other than 'Daredevil.'" Fans would just have to be patient on production plans of Netflix and Marvel as they will weave the story of the superheroes part of the TV-world that started with "Daredevil."
