Duncan Jones, the director of the upcoming 2016 film adaptation of ''World Of Warcraft'' has come up with some details of his upcoming movie which is all set to be released in Jun. 2016.
Blizzard Entertainment, the creator of the popular franchise of ''Warcraft'' has been a popular name in the world of video games lovers. The series contains five core games: ''Warcraft: Orcs & Humans,'' ''Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness,'' ''Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos,'' ''World of Warcraft,'' and ''Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.'' Blizzard games talked in details about these games.
This franchise has a long list of novels too to its name and has a huge fan following. Blizzard also announced way back in 2006 that they will develop a live-action film set in the Warcraft universe. Firstshowing.net covered the Blizzcon 2008 event and clarified that a script for the movie was in the making.
"We're definitely not going to make a G or a PG version of this. It's not PillowfightCraft'' mentioned Chris Metzen, the co-producer of this movie. Initially Sam Raimi was going to be the director of the film, however later in Jan. 2013, the name of Duncan Jones was announced as the director. Jones is the son of singer-songwriter David Bowie and Angie Bowie and had directed science fiction film ''Moon'' in 2009.
Craveonline confirmed that Charles Leavitt will create the script and the principal photography was scheduled to begin in 2014. The plot of this movie is based on the popular novel '' Warcraft: The Last Guardian.'' Initially this movie was scheduled to be released in 2015, however now the new release date will be in June 2016.
Duncan talked about the casting of this film during Blizzcon on Nov. 9, 2013 and in Nov. 2015, the trailer of this upcoming movie too was released. Polygon covered that story and shared the details. "We are excited about the Warcraft movie, which begins production in 2014, and we look forward to sharing more in the future," the company said in a statement.
The Hollywood Reporter had talked about Jones taking over the project in 2013. ''Sam Raimi may no longer be helming "World of Warcraft," but Legendary Entertainment is still eager to get the film adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment's hit videogame up on the bigscreen, with "The Seventh Son"-scribe Charles Leavitt penning the latest script'' confirmed Variety.
EW recently talked about the upcoming movie and the hard work of Jones. ''It's been a hard three years, so it's been a difficult time," Jones said. "But I'm proud of what we've done."
So will this movie launch the career of Jones in the arena of big-budget movies?
