Dystopian Fairytale Steampunk band Psyche Corp. dropped their new music video for their hypnotic song "Dance for Me." While the song is ostensibly about an artist exchanging free will for fame, repeated listening might induce you to surrender to Psyche's dance instead.
"I envision this project as a visual blend of the mystical and the macabre," Psyche Chimera told KpopStarz exclusively, when she first envisioned the video.
"Inspired by various sources of occult, mystical, and arcane imagery, the 'Dance for Me' video weaves a gothic fairytale of cosmic power struggles within an imaginary universe," reads the official synopsis.
"The linked characters of The Fortune-Teller, the Empress of Marionettes, and the Puppeteer personify increasingly extreme opponents to free will. In the first form, free will is overpowered by Destiny determined by Luck and not true agency.
"In the second form, free will is overpowered by Authority (royal, social, economic, ...). In the third form, there is no free will at all--the appearance of agency is merely a manifestation of the Divine Puppeteer's will.
"Now stop reading and go forth to see me covered in sculpted wax 'make-up', channeling my inner alien jellyfish goddess! #psychecorpmusicvid2016"
Psyche Corporation, is a fairytale cyber/steampunk band fronted by a former Ladies of Steampunk model and programmer who combines dance with a powerhouse vocal range. The band is named after a dream manufacture group from a future where neural implants allow people to download dreams from the Internet. Songs deal in dystopian themes as well as more lighthearted folk works, such as "Perl-Operated Boy". The musical style spans genres of trip-hop, electro-rock, and world music.
"The music video for this song was inspired by various sources of occult, mystical, and arcane imagery, though modified to fit into a gothic fairytale of cosmic power struggles within an imaginary universe," Psyche wrote to Facebook.

After releasing their 5th album, "Romance of the Counter-Elite," last October, Psyche Corp. is hoping showcase "a decadent gothic fairytale visual narrative about a ballet dancer, who finds herself becoming a marionette for a sinister cosmic power," according to Psyche Chimère.
"Dance for Me" is an exploration of "how the counter-elite are seduced by the elite to join in a corrupt power structure that they may never find the courage to overthrow," according to the album's liner notes.
"This song is dedicated to everyone who's ever had to deal with a micromanaging authority figure," Psyche writes.
"You know who I'm talking about."
