BLACKPINK: First K-Pop Girl Group to enter the Canadian Billboard 100

Every K-Pop fan girl and boy must be proud as he or she heard of the news that the four girls of BLACKPINK just entered the Canadian Billboard 100.

On November 21, Billboard wrote that BLACKPINK's "Playing with Fire" entered the said chart at number 92, making it as the first K-Pop girl group to be included in the prestigious chart. Some of the fans out there might be wondering and might be asking this question: Is this the first time that a Korean artist made it to the chart?

Well, the answer is a big "no". The Canadian Billboard 100, also known as Hot 100 by the locals, had several hallyu artists before such as SM Entertainment's EXO, Big Hit Entertainment's BTS, and YG Entertainment's PSY and 2NE1's CL. However, BLACKPINK is the first Korean girl group to enter the said chart.

Billboard further explained that several Canadians got hooked to the upbeat rhythm of BLACKPINK's hit song. In actual fact, it entered the chart alongside worldwide electronic dance music artists such as The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, and Big Sean. For everyone's knowledge, the Canadian Hot 100 is based from the data on sales, streaming, radio listeners' feedback, and other relevant factors, according to All Kpop.

BLACKPINK is a South Korean girl group composed of three Korean members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and the first non-Korean YG Entertainment artist, Lisa. They only debuted in August 8 of this year, but the girls proven the world that a girl group's age doesn't matter as they conquered several awards not only in music charts but also in recently concluded award-giving bodies such as during the 2016 Melon Music Awards and the 2016 Asia Artist Awards

BLACKPINK's "Playing with Fire" currently sits at number 92 of the Canadian Billboard 100. The said hit song also made it to other foreign charts such as in Japan where it landed at number 81, number 17 in China, number 3 in South Korea, and number 1 in Unites States World Digital Songs. This adds up to the list of achievements recently received by this quartet. BLACKPINK, hwaiting!
