2NE1 News: MInzy's Upcoming Solo Album To Show Her Maturity As An Artist; Album To Feature Self Composed Track

Former 2NE1 member Gong Minzy is going all out for her upcoming solo album. Minzy's album will be featuring her first self composed song.

According to her management Music Works, the singer is putting the finishing touches on her first album with the goal of releasing it this April. She will be the first former 2NE1 member to release her solo material since k-pop group disbanded last year after seven years of success, Soompi reported.

It can be recalled that last year, Minzy moved to Music Works while Sandara Park and CL stayed on with YG Entertainment. In a recent post, Park Bom said she was also still with YG and she is also coming out with her solo album soon.

According to Music Works, Minzy was very hands on with the album, injecting her creative inputs on most of the songs. She also collaborated with heavyweights like Jay Park, who recently won Artist of the Year at the 14th Korean Music Awards, on one of the tracks.

The album is expected to show a more mature side of Minzy as well as her growth as an artist, according to her management. They asked fans for their support because Minzy put a lot of heart work on the album.

Before she releases her album, Minzy has been busy with different activities. She was tapped as one of the featured artists for the original soundtrack of "Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People" OST for the song "I Wanted to Love." She is also appearing in "Unnies: Slam Dunk 2."

In a report by All Kpop, Minzy got love from Girl's Generation's Taeyeon, who also released her successful solo album last month, when Taeyeon said she would love to collaborate with the former 2NE1 member. Taeyeon appeared briefly on the show in a recent episode where Minzy shared how much she admired her sunbaenim.
