On September 13th, the photo shown above was uploaded to the official Instagram of hit boy group WINNER. In the photo, members Kim Jin Woo and Song Min Ho were seen cruising together but the casual photo became quite the controversial topic due to Kim Jin Woo's choice of fashion.
The controversial outfit included a Confederate flag design on the top right side of his chest - the flag is known as a representation of racism and negative Southern views in the states. According to reports, international fans expressed disappointment and disbelief at Kim Jin Woo for wearing the controversial symbol of segregation and racism and demanded the photo to be deleted off of their account.
The photo was immediately taken down and replaced with the following photo of the group's leader Lee Seung Hoon alongside a sincere apology. The caption reads, "There was something that Team WINNER should have been more careful about, and now that we learned from this, we'll check more carefully. Inner Circle always tells us in nice words, and we'll become WINNER CITY that gives back with happiness."
What do you think of WINNER's controversial photo and recent apology? For now, it seems the group has corrected their mistake with international fans and peace has returned to the Inner Circle.
