China is at it again - and this time they are copying another popular Korean TV program. You would have thought the country would put an end to their copycat antics after copying programs such as 'Produce IOI' and even mimicking boy groups such as WANNA ONE or BTS, but that is not the case.
It was recently reported that the Chinese broadcasting station Hunan TV evidently copied SBS' hit program 'Ugly Duckling' without considering any of their copyrights. Still lacking originality, the Chinese producers utilized the popular Korean shows method of having Korean celebrities and idols' parents (specifically their mothers) appear on a panel to discuss the single life of their children.
The reps. stated that, "There was absolutely no sort of copyright purchasing or format exchange [between SBS and Hunan TV]. It seems they copied our program illegally. We will attempt to look into lawful actions, but it will likely be very difficult to crack down on." What do you think of this rather irritating situation? Stay tuned for more details.
