Boy group NCT 127 is the latest Korean act to make waves in the Stateside.
On April 11, the official Twitter account of Good Morning America has confirmed the news that the NCT subunit will perform live from the show's Time Square studio on Thursday, April 18. The group will appear during the Strahan and Sara segment.
The well-followed morning program, which is currently the no. 1 morning show in the US in terms of demographic ratings and viewership, airs from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT on ABC.
NCT 127 will serve as the third K-pop group to appear on Good Morning America, following the buzz-worthy guestings of BTS and Blackpink.
The said appearance comes ahead of the North American leg of their "Neo City: The Origin" tour. This series of shows, which will commence on the 24th, will see the nine on-tour members perform for their growing fanbase in New Jersey, Florida, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Arizona, and California.
The two-month concert series will also bring the K-pop group to Canada.
NCT 127 started creating buzz in the US music scene when their "Regular-Irregular" effort peaked at No. 86 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album is the debut release of the said subunit. Composed of 11 tracks, the offering is the follow-up to their Cherry Bomb EP which was launched back in June 2017.
In South Korea, the album debuted on top of the Gaon Album Chart. Last year, the group unveiled the album's repackage titled "Regulate," with "Simon Says" serving as the project's carrier single.
Earlier in April, they have inked distribution deals with Capitol Music Group and its recording label arm, Caroline. The agreement will pave the way for the pop group's extensive marketing efforts across different parts of the globe.
In a press release, CMG chairman and CEO Steve Barnett said that they are "thrilled to be be partnering with Young-Min Kim (Group CEO of SM Group) and Nikki Semin Han (CEO of SM Entertainment) to further the phenomenon of NCT 127 around the world."
NCT 127 was the second subunit to be formed from SM Entertainment's NCT (short for Neo Culture Technology), which currenly has a total of 18 members. The group's name refers to the longitudinal coordinates of South Korean capital, Seoul.
The multi-cultural collective is composed of Taeyong, Taeil, Yuta, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark, Haechan, Doyoung, Johnny, and Jungwoo. The members are from South Korea, Japan, China, US, and Canada.
