Superstar boyband BTS has just released its own mobile game, BTS World, and with it comes a soundtrack album that gave them another chart-topping musical project.
In an official announcement made by Korea’s Gaon Chart, it was revealed that the record debuted atop the album chart during the June 23-29 period. In the same week, they also secured the top spot on the social chart with their global hit “Boy With Luv” (featuring Halsey) for the ninth consecutive time.
Across the globe, the album’s lead track “Heartbeat” — a pop-rock tune about love and destiny — also proved its drawing power as it topped several iTunes charts in different countries including the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Qatar, UAE, Kenya, France, Sweden, and Brazil among others.
In the album, the members were also divided into three groups, each with A-list collaborative works.
The trio of Jin, Jungkook, and Jimin teamed up with English music star Charli XCX for “Dream Glow,” the group’s ode to rising above adversities to chase after their dream. J-Hope and V, on the other hand, paired with Swedish pop phenom Zara Larsson for the electro-hip-hop piece “Brand New Day.” Completing the string of collaborations is RM and Suga breathing life to the '90s R&B-inspired “All Night,” together with Juice WRLD.
Apart from these tracks, BTS World also includes thematic cuts based on the members’ personalities.
Completing the compilation are non-BTS-sung songs, such as “You are Here” by Lee Hyun (the group’s labelmate in Big Hit Entertainment) and “Lalala” by indie-pop act Okdal.
BTS World is an interactive mobile game that takes players back to 2012, the year before the septet made their debut. Players will have the chance to take on the role of the K-pop troupe’s manager, helping them rise to fame.
The game further features never-before-seen videos featuring the adorable Bangtan Boys.
Prior to the game’s release, BTS has also dominated charts and broke records with their critically and commercially acclaimed album, “Map of the Soul: Persona.”
