Woollim Entertainment has officially launched the newest girl group in town, Rocket Punch!
Composed of Juri, YeonHee, SuYun, YunKyoung, SoHee, and Dahyun, the six-piece K-pop upstart unveiled their debut song called “Bim Bam Bum.” The energetic track is lifted off their first-ever mini-album, “Pink Punch.”
The single was produced by duo Iggy Youngbae -- the same musical force behind several of GFRIEND’s releases.
Making for a fitting debut song, “Bim Bam Bum” is a K-pop piece that talks about every K-pop newbie’s quintessential dream: To be able to share their song, their sound, and their story with the rest of the world.
On August 7, the official music video for the song was also premiered on their agency’s official YouTube channel. The visuals are filled with eye-catching images of the girls donning athletic and edgy outfits, singing and dancing as they attempt to make a mark in the K-pop scene.
The video has since garnered hundreds of thousands of views as well as positive responses from K-pop enthusiasts across the globe.
Andressa Niña, one YouTube user, praised how the music video has departed from the previous works done by Woollim. “Woollim has come a long way. From [labelmate] INFINITE’s super dark MVs to Rocket Punch’s ultra-colorful debut… it’s like watching how K-pop trends [have] changed in a decade,” she shared, adding that she wishes “these girls the best.”
“[The] song, the vocals, the synchronization are great. The MV looks so colorful. Please support Woollim’s new group Rocket Punch. I believe they will go higher,” another user named Gyu Gyu commented.
Juri, formerly with the Japanese girl group AKB48, is also receiving special attention for finally debuting as a K-pop idol. One netizen with username Aguida Cavalcanti commented: “My Juri debuted in Korea… she debuted in such a good group and with such a good song.”
Apart from “Bim Bam Bum,” their “Pink Punch” EP also contains five more songs including “Love is Over,” “Lucid Dream,” “Favorite,” “Do Somethin,” and the eponymous track, “Pink Punch.”
With Rocket Punch’s launch, Woollim Entertainment adds another talented act to its roster of artists, which include INFINITE, Lovelyz, and Golden Child.
