BLACKPINK Receives BRIT Silver Certification for Single in the UK

BLACKPINK has made another K-Pop history with their song!

This new achievement makes BLACKPINK the first K-pop group ever to attain this recognition, and the second K-Pop troupe to be awarded by BPI. BTS's two albums: "Love Yourself: Answer" and "Map of the Soul: Persona" was certified silver by BPI last May 31 and June 28 this year, respectively.

Based on the thresholds for The BRIT Awards' certification, tracks that will reach 200,000 units sold will be certified silver, while for albums at 600,000 copies sold.

This award is only one of BLACKPINK's impressive feats.

This past April, BLACKPINK became the first-ever K-pop group to perform at this year's Coachella music festival. The team held two concerts - on April 12 and 19. BLINKs, the fans of the group, loved every second of their set. The girls' performance was live-streamed on YouTube as well as on a large screen at New York's Times Squares.

Fans who were at the venue and watching on the screen were chanting "Blackpink in your area!" altogether and just by how the crowd went wild upon seeing BLACKPINK members Rose, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo and as the girls performed, it appeared like it was a BLACKPINK concert and not a music festival.

Aside from this, the group's latest track "Kill This Love" made them the first K-pop girl group to be on UK's Official Singles Chart Top 100 for three consecutive weeks. The single first landed on the chart at No. 33, then at No. 48 and No. 55 in the following weeks. But this is not BLACKPINK's first time to enter Top 100. In June 2018, their track "DDU-DU DDU-DU" ranked 78th on the said table.

Moreover, the music video for "Kill This Love" has achieved a rare feat in the K-pop industry. The MV hit 100 million views on YouTube, which only took only two days, 14 hours, and 15 minutes. It is now the fastest K-pop MV to reach such views, beating BTS's "IDOL" in August 2018 with four days, 23 hours, and 20 minutes.

As for the music video of "DDU-DU DDU-DU," it became the first K-pop group MV to have 900 million views, and the third Korean MV to obtain that number following PSY's "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman."

Congratulations to BLACKPINK for another notable achievement.
