It hasn't even been a month since Sulli's death but another malicious rumor is flooding the internet again. Sulli, a 25-year old actress and a former member of the Korean girl group f(x), committed suicide due to depression and social anxiety. She dealt with cyberbullying and public criticism silently. As a public figure, she was expected to handle these situations with grace but at the end of the day, celebrities are humans too.

Less than a month following Sulli's death, a member of MONSTA X is also being scrutinized with malicious photos and comments online. A naked photo of Shownu is being shared on various social media sites. Although fans and Starship Entertainment are quick to respond and defend the singer, a lot of people still believe the rumor.

In the midst of these issues, Sulli's Law has been brought up once again. The said law will focus on ceasing cyberbullying and posting of unknown malicious comments. Even though the exact content of the bill isn't available yet, politicians admit that the proposed law is ideally great but its execution may be difficult given that Korea practices freedom of speech. Containing all malicious comments and monitoring each individual's use of social media may interfere with the country's current constitutional laws.

Suicide rates and depression and anxiety cases are getting higher each year. Sulli is not the first Korean star who chose to end her life. At the end of the day, it is our social responsibility to watch what we say and post on the internet.

What do you think about Sulli's Law? Are you in favor of passing this bill?
